‘In our present social context, marked by a dramatic struggle between the “culture of life” and the “culture of death”, there is need to develop a deep critical sense, capable of discerning true values and authentic needs. What is urgently called for is a general mobilization of consciences and a united ethical effort to activate a great campaign in support of life. All together, we must build a new culture of life.’
– Blessed John Paul II, The Gospel of Life, no. 95
‘As pastors and teachers, we proclaim that human life is a precious gift from God; that each person who receives this gift has responsibilities toward God, self, and others; and that society, through its laws and social institutions, must protect and nurture human life at every stage of its existence. These beliefs flow from ordinary reason and from our faith’s constant witness that “life must be protected with the utmost care from the moment of conception” (Pastoral Constitution on the Church in the Modern World, no. 51)—a teaching that has been a constant part of the Christian message since the apostolic age.’

Pray every Wednesday on the sidewalk in front of Family Planning of NCW, 900 Ferry St. from 2:00pm to 5:30pm during their walk-in clinic hours. You, too, ar invited to join us. If no one else is there when you arrive, feel free to pray in your car. If you want more of God, this is the place to find Him—standing up for the innocent unborn. Dare to do something bold with His help.
The Family Planning of NCW refers their clients for abortion and dispenses Plan B (the “morning after pill”) which is an abortifacient at the cheapest price in our area. Because the evil is happening there, that is where we must be. If we’re not there, there will be no sign of hope for the baby or the mother before death and wounding occur for each of them respectively. Afterwards, we will be the first sign of mercy for them, that there IS hope and healing. We need to have that “missionary mentality”: we go where God’s message is needed.

PREPARES is an initiative of the Catholic Bishops of Washington State, which is open to all people. It provides services to pregnant women, fathers, and their families by walking the journey from conception to their child’s fifth birthday. Over the next year, PREPARES will focus on implementing this investment throughout our Diocese. Area Coordinators will be visiting each Parish in the state to create a network of support from the Catholic Community. Secondarily, PREPARES will be offering training for volunteers wanting to support families. If you want to be in on the ground floor of this comprehensive pro-life ministry in our area, please contact Alma Ramos, 509-794-9881 and [email protected]. We also encourage you to visit the PREPARES website at www.preparesforlife.org.
