We have finally arrived at the moment when our candidates for the Sacrament of Confirmation will be confirmed.  This Saturday the 12th is the day. After 2 years of preparation they will be able to make a commitment to the Lord that they desire to confirm their faith in God before the community. Usually this sacrament is conferred by the bishop of the diocese but this year because of Covid-19, pastors of each community have been given delegation to celebrate the sacrament.

This year we have about 24 people who will receive this sacrament. This is a positive sign which indicates that our Church continues to grow – not only in numbers, but also spiritually.  These young people are the future Catholic leaders in our community.   

Confirmation classes are aimed at helping our young people to grow in their knowledge of the Catholic Faith.   This includes doctrine, the bible and the nature of the sacraments.  Perhaps more importantly our goal is to empower them to deepen their personal relationship with Jesus Christ.  Through the power of the Holy Spirit, we pray that they would continue that relationship and to express it through going to Mass, praying, giving good example always with a focus on eternal life.

Confirmation Class can be challenging for teachers.  They have to sometimes be creative in the ways they use to pass along the doctrine of Jesus and his Church to young people.  I would like to give thanks to Julia Walsh, our Religious Education Director, also to our catechists for confirmation, Deacon Bill Dronen, Deacon Jorge Calderilla, Tony Hillock, Luis Fernando Trujillo and Scott Irey. I admire them so much because of their dedication to helping our children to grow in their faith.  Thank you for your patience, your service and your faithful membership in our parish!

En   Por fin llegamos al momento en que serán confirmados nuestros candidatos al sacramento de la Confirmación. Este sábado 12 es el día. Después de 2 años de preparación podrán hacer un compromiso con el Señor que desean confirmar su fe en Dios ante la comunidad. Por lo general, este sacramento es conferido por el obispo de la diócesis, pero este año debido al Covid-19, los párrocos de cada comunidad han recibido una delegación para celebrar el sacramento.

Este año contamos con unos 24 jóvenes que recibirán este sacramento. Esta es una señal positiva que indica que nuestra Iglesia continúa creciendo, no solo en número, sino también espiritualmente. Estos jóvenes son los futuros líderes católicos de nuestra comunidad.

Las clases de confirmación tienen como objetivo ayudar a nuestros jóvenes a crecer en su conocimiento en la fe católica. Esto incluye la doctrina, la Biblia y la naturaleza de los sacramentos. Quizás lo más importante es que nuestro objetivo es capacitarlos para que profundicen su relación personal con Jesucristo. A través del poder del Espíritu Santo, oramos para que continúen esa relación y la expresen yendo a Misa, orando, dando buen ejemplo siempre con un enfoque hacia la vida eterna.

La clase de confirmación puede ser un desafío para los maestros. A veces tienen que ser creativos la forma que utilizan para transmitir la doctrina de Jesús y su Iglesia a los jóvenes. Me gustaría agradecer a Julie Walsh, nuestra Directora de Educación Religiosa, también a nuestros catequistas de la Confirmación, el Diácono Bill Dronen, el Diácono Jorge Calderilla, Tony Hillock, Luis Fernando Trujillo y Scott Irey. Los admiro mucho por su dedicación a colaborar en la formación de nuestros jóvenes en la fe. ¡Gracias por su paciencia, su servicio y su fiel generosidad a nuestra parroquia!
