The Advent Season has arrived. As the candles of our Advent wreath begin to be lit, we are reminded of the hope that comes from this important season. We prepare for the coming of Jesus, the Light of the World, to dispel the darkness and doubt of our lives.
Advent this year is especially important for our community of faith. The darkness of winter reflects the darkness some of us experience at the thought of having to move from the church building we love to a new and unknown building. It is discouraging that our current situation is unsustainable. Our hearts ache to have the light of Christ dispel darkness and bring us hope. We know how the season of Advent will end
—with the joyous celebration of the coming of the Prince of Peace at Christmas. This gives us hope that God always triumphs over darkness and death. He always wins.
I am confident that we too can have hope that God will bring goodness and light out of the darkness some of us feel right now. I firmly believe that God will bring many blessings out of the merging of two buildings and faith communities into one. This effort will put us on a firmer financial foundation and give us a large and beautiful liturgical space that will sustain the Church for many years to come.
As the light of our Advent wreath grows each week, let us pray that our own hope and faith in the Lord would grow as well. May God dispel the darkness of our lives and lead us to the unity and peace that can only come from the Prince of Peace. Happy Advent!
Sincerely in Christ,
