From your Pastor…

This past week we had a wonderful opportunity to reflect on Our Lady of Fatima and the power of the Holy Rosary.  We gathered in the morning to pray the Rosary and then in the evening we heard Sandra Barrós give a talk to the parents who have students in the First Communion and Confirmation class.  It was a great week of re-discovering the Blessed Mother, her mission and the message of Fatima.

The apparition of our Lady of Fatima took place on May 13, 1917.  Part of her message was to ask for a church to be built.  She also encouraged the faithful to pray the Rosary on a consistent basis because the Rosary is an instrument which can destroy evil in the world. She offered a warning about giving in to temptations of the flesh and to engage in prayer and sacrifice.  Our Lady spoke of the reality of Hell and the importance praying for mercy.  The traditional Fatima Prayer is: "O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of Hell and lead all souls to Heaven, especially those most in need of Thy Mercy. Amen." The Blessed Virgin continues accompanying us in this world during our journey to heaven. She gives us tools and messages which help us stay close to God.  She intercedes for us as a loving mother.   

There are other apparitions of Mary throughout history.  These include December 12th, 1531 when she appeared to St Juan Diego, on February 11th, 1858 she appeared to St. Bernadette in Lourdes, France and on May 13th, 1917 she appeared to three little children in Cova de Iria, Portugal.

Let us attend the message of our Lady to pray the rosary so that we might be guided and guide others to salvation.

La semana pasada tuvimos una maravillosa oportunidad de reflexionar sobre Nuestra Señora de Fátima y el poder del Santo Rosario. Nos reunimos en la mañana para rezar el Rosario y luego en la noche escuchamos a Sandra Barrós dar una charla a los padres que tienen alumnos en la clase de Primera Comunión y Confirmación. Fue una gran semana de redescubrimiento de la Santísima Madre, su misión y el mensaje de Fátima.

La aparición de Nuestra Señora de Fátima tuvo lugar el 13 de mayo de 1917. Parte de su mensaje fue pedir que se construyera una Iglesia. También animó a los fieles a rezar el Rosario de manera constante porque el Rosario es un instrumento que puede destruir el mal en el mundo. Ella ofreció una advertencia sobre ceder a las tentaciones de la carne y participar en la oración y el sacrificio. Nuestra Señora habló de la realidad del Infierno y la importancia de orar por misericordia. La oración tradicional de Fátima es: "Oh Jesús mío, perdónanos nuestros pecados, sálvanos del fuego del Infierno y lleva al Cielo a todas las almas, especialmente a las más necesitadas de Tu Misericordia. Amén". La Santísima Virgen continúa acompañándonos en este mundo durante nuestro camino al cielo. Ella nos da herramientas y mensajes que nos ayudan a estar cerca de Dios. Ella intercede por nosotros como una madre amorosa.

Hay otras apariciones de María a lo largo de la historia. Estos incluyen el 12 de diciembre de 1531 cuando se apareció a San Juan Diego, el 11 de febrero de 1858 se apareció a Santa Bernardita en Lourdes, Francia y el 13 de mayo de 1917 se apareció a tres niños pequeños en Cova de Iria, Portugal.

Asistamos al mensaje de la Virgen para rezar el rosario para que podamos ser guiados y guiar a otros a la salvación.
