From your Pastor,

"For if we live, we live for the Lord, and if we die, we die for the Lord; so then, whether we live or die, we are the Lord’s” (Rom 14:8). This is the scripture passage that my family had inscribed into the stone on my dad’s burial vault.   It was chosen because of our deep belief that these words are words of truth.  We should live our lives with the Lord so that when we die, we die with him with the assurance and hope that we will live with him forever.

As many of you know, last March 14th, my dad, Elías González died of a heart attack at the age of 78.   At the hospital he was able to go to confession and be anointed by a priest before his death.   My family is a very devout Catholic family.  On a daily basis, the Rosary is prayed at my house and neighbors and friends often join in at around 7:00 p.m.  Mass and Holy Communion are never missed.  The Rosary and Communion is what held my family together during this difficult time.  It strengthened our faith in the fact that God was taking my dad to his resting place.

With great honor, I celebrated the funeral Mass and after that, we all went to the cemetery for his burial and to say good bye. This was a beautiful moment where sincere love was expressed to my mom and to the rest of my family.  I still feel sadness, but the care and support from our community in Queseria, Colima and the support and prayers of so many of you have been a blessing.  Your love was expressed in many ways and I am so glad to have so many people and parishioners around who shared their unconditional love with us. Thank you very much.

After the Funeral Mass we observed a novena of Masses to continue celebrating the resurrection of my dad and his freedom from the slavery of this world. People appeared from everywhere to join us and share their condolences as we continued to be persistent in prayer through participation in the Holy Sacrifice of the Eucharist. Once again, I want to expressed my deepest gratitude to all of you for your loving support.

May the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

De parte de su Pastor…          

“Si vivimos, vivimos para el Señor, y si morimos, morimos para el Señor. Tanto en la vida como en la muerte pertenecemos al Señor” (Romanos 14, 8). Este es el pasaje de las Sagradas Escrituras que mi familia inscribió en la lápida de la bóveda de mi papá. Fue elegido por nuestra profunda creencia de que estas palabras son palabras verdaderas. Debemos vivir nuestras vidas con el Señor para que cuando muramos, muramos con él, con la seguridad y la esperanza de que viviremos con él para siempre.

Como muchos de ustedes saben, el pasado 14 de marzo, mi papá, Elías González, murió de un infarto, a la edad de 78 años. En el hospital pudo confesarse y ser ungido por un sacerdote antes de morir. Mi familia es una familia católica muy devota. Diariamente se reza el Rosario en mi casa y los vecinos y amigos nos acompañan alrededor de las 7:00 p.m. Nunca faltan a Misa y a la Sagrada Comunión. El Rosario y la Comunión es lo que mantuvo sólida a mi familia durante este momento difícil. Esto reforzó nuestra fe en el hecho de que Dios se llevaba a mi papá a su lugar de descanso.

Con gran honor celebré la Misa Funeral y después de eso fuimos todos al cementerio para su entierro y para despedirnos. Este fue un momento hermoso donde se expresó un amor sincero a mi mamá y al resto de mi familia. Todavía siento tristeza, pero el cuidado y el apoyo de nuestra comunidad en Quesería, Colima y el apoyo y las oraciones de tantos de ustedes han sido una bendición. Su amor se expresó de muchas maneras y estoy muy contento de tener tantas personas y feligreses alrededor que compartieron su amor incondicional con nosotros.

Después de la Misa Funeral, celebré un novenario de Misas en honor a la resurrección de mi papá y su liberación de la esclavitud de este mundo. Asistieron muchas personas de todas partes para unirse a nosotros y compartir sus condolencias mientras continuábamos siendo persistentes en la oración a través de la participación en el Santo Sacrificio de la Eucaristía. Una vez más, quiero expresarles mi más profunda gratitud a todos ustedes por su amoroso apoyo.

Las almas de los fieles difuntos, por la Misericordia de Dios, descansen en Paz. Amén.
