From your Pastor…

Next weekend is the kick off for the second phase of our capital campaign and I would like to invite you to reflect on the responsibility we have as stewards of the things with which we have been entrusted. This Campaign is not only about raising funds for our building. It is also an opportunity for us to share what we have in gratitude for the abundant generosity of God.

Sacred Scripture reminds us that a cheerful giver will participate in sharing with joy. This will not only be in relation to finances but also to the joy that comes from a great gift we give to God through this important building project. In 2 Corinthians 9:7, we are told, "Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver." When we give from the heart joy comes to us and we come to understand and reflect God’s happiness and joy at his willingness to bless our efforts.

                Sharing from what we have paves the way to eternal life. Jesus promised that only when we share what we have can we follow him. So when we share, we do so for something beyond ourselves in transformation of our world. That is a difficult step to take because the message of our culture tells us that the more possessions we have the happier we will be. That, of course, is a lie.

                The second phase of our capital campaign will help us pay off our $2,000,000 diocesan loan and also allow us to complete our new church. The consequence of this will be the continuation of worshiping the Lord in a spacious place whose nobility reflects the honor we have for almighty God. You will be receiving a pledge card at your home, please bring it next weekend so that we may pledge together. This is not only an act of love and trust in the Lord.

                Let us move forward with faith, joy and generosity as we start our 5 year phase two of our capital campaign trusting that the Lord will provide for us through the building of a sacred place.

El próximo fin de semana inicia la segunda fase de nuestra campaña capital y los invito a reflexionar sobre nuestra responsabilidad como administradores de los bienes que se nos han confiado. Esta campaña no se trata solo de recaudar fondos para nuestro edificio, también es una oportunidad para compartir lo que tenemos en agradecimiento por la abundante generosidad de Dios.

La Sagrada Escritura nos recuerda que quien da con alegría compartirá con alegría. Esto no solo se relaciona con las finanzas, sino también con la alegría que proviene del gran regalo que le damos a Dios a través de este importante proyecto de construcción. En 2 Corintios 9:7, se nos dice: “Cada uno dé según lo que haya decidido en su corazón, no de mala gana ni por obligación, porque Dios ama al dador alegre”. Cuando damos de corazón, recibimos alegría y llegamos a comprender y reflejar la felicidad y el gozo de Dios por su disposición a bendecir nuestros esfuerzos.

Compartir de lo que tenemos allana el camino a la vida eterna. Jesús prometió que solo compartiendo lo que tenemos podemos seguirlo. Así que, cuando compartimos, lo hacemos por algo que va más allá de nosotros mismos, por la transformación de nuestro mundo. Es un paso difícil de dar porque el mensaje de nuestra cultura nos dice que cuantas más posesiones tengamos, más felices seremos. Eso, por supuesto, es una mentira.

La segunda fase de nuestra campaña capital nos ayudará a pagar nuestro préstamo diocesano de $2,000,000 y también nos permitirá completar nuestra nueva Iglesia. Como resultado, continuaremos adorando al Señor en un lugar espacioso cuya nobleza refleja el honor que tenemos por Dios todopoderoso. 

Recibirán una tarjeta de compromiso en su casa; por favor, tráiganla el próximo fin de semana para que podamos comprometernos juntos. Esto no es solo una obligación financiera si no un acto de amor y confianza en el Señor.

Avancemos con fe, alegría y generosidad al comenzar la segunda fase de nuestra campaña de capital, que durará 5 años, confiando en que el Señor nos proveerá mediante la construcción de un lugar sagrado.
