"Behold, I have prepared my banquet...and everything is ready; come to the feast." The gospel this weekend has the Lord telling a parable which refers to Him and His Kingdom. Our task is to accept the invitation. 

In human terms, we have certain responses to receiving an invitation. One of them is to say, “I am too busy.” We hear that phrase over and over again. We can also say things like “I have had a very long day.” These sentiments reflect our resistance at times to accepting invitations. That is why we say we cannot help, we cannot attend, we cannot go, we cannot join, we cannot fulfill obligations, we cannot make it, we cannot celebrate with others.” 

Many times, these answers can simply be excuses as they reflect a lack of setting priorities. The Lord pointed to Martha and her inability to prioritize when he said, "Martha, Martha, you are anxious and worried about many things. There is need of only one thing. Mary has chosen the better part and it will not be taken from her." Here the Lord is telling Martha that prayer should be a priority and not the busyness of daily life. He is inviting her enter into prayerful reflection as Mary did. 

We too are called to prioritize our lives by putting busyness into perspective. The bible gives us a guide as to what those priorities should be. Loving the Lord our God with all our hearts, all our minds, with all our strength---and our neighbor as ourselves is a good place to start. 

Today the Lord is reminding us that we are invited to his banquet but that not all will be accepted. This is our challenge to set aside excuses and to prioritize our lives. As Catholics we are called to go to Mass, help others, support the community, and accept the invitation to deeper communion with the Lord. None of us wants to hear the sobering words for those who do not accept, “Bind his hands and feet, and cast him into the darkness outside, where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth.' Many are invited, but few are chosen." 

May all of us have the grace to prioritize our relationship with the Lord so as to be included in the banquet.

"He aquí, he preparado mi banquete ... y todo está listo, venid a la fiesta". En el evangelio de este fin de semana el Señor nos habla de una para bola sobre El y su Reino. Nuestra tarea es aceptar la invitación. 

En términos humanos, tenemos ciertas respuestas al recibir una invitación. Una de ellas es cuando decimos, "estoy dema-siado ocupado." Oímos esa frase una y otra vez. También decimos cosas como" he tenido un día muy largo". Estos sentimientos reflejan nuestra resistencia a veces a aceptar invitaciones. Por eso decimos que no podemos ayudar, no podemos asistir, no podemos ir, no podemos unirnos, no podemos cumplir con las obligaciones, no podemos hacerlo, no podemos celebrar con los demás". 

Muchas veces, estas respuestas pueden ser simplemente excusas, ya que reflejan una falta de establecimiento de prioridades. El Señor sen alo a Marta y su incapacidad para dar prioridad cuando dijo: "Marta, Marta, muchas cosas te preocupan y una sola es la más importante. María ha escogido la mejor parte y no se le quitará."   Aquí el Señor le dice a Marta que la oración debe ser una prioridad y no la ocupacio n de la vida diaria. E l la invita a entrar a una atmosfera de oración como lo hizo Marí a. 

Nosotros tambie n somos llamados a priorizar nuestras vidas poniendo las ocupacio-nes en perspectiva. La Biblia nos da una guí a sobre cua les deben ser esas priorida-des. Amar al Sen or nuestro Dios con todos nuestro corazo n, todas nuestra mente, con todas nuestras fuerzas - y a nuestro pro jimo como a nosotros mismos, es un buen lugar para empezar. 

Hoy el Señor nos está recordando que estamos invitados a su banquete, pero que no todos serán aceptados. Este es nuestro desafío para dejar de lado las excusas y para priorizar nuestras vidas. Como católicos estamos llamados a ir a misa, ayudar a otros, apoyar a la comunidad y a aceptar la invitación a una comunión más profunda con el Señor. Ninguno de nosotros quiere oír las palabras serias de Jesús para aquellos que no aceptará, "Amarren sus manos y pies, y arrójenlo a la oscuridad de afuera, donde habrá llanto y el rechinar de dientes". Porque muchos son los llamados y pocos los escogidos." 

Que todos tengamos la gracia de priorizar nuestra relación con el Señor para ser incluidos dentro del banquete.
