This weekend we celebrate the feast of the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph. Family is the foundational institution created by God whereby children are created, educated and formed in the knowledge and love of the Lord. For me, personally, I love to visit my parents, at least once a year in Mexico. Actually, as I write this article, I am at my parent’s house in Colima, Mexico. Every time I come to visit them, I feel renewed by their unconditional love and care for me. I know that this is something that we all long for within our families.
As we celebrate this feast, we are reminded that the Holy Family lived their lives fulfilling the will of God. In living the will of God, they found fulfillment and purpose as time unfolded. Their hearts and their conscience were at peace. The consequence of living the will of God for them brought to their family goodness and harmony. They were understanding, patient, forgiving caring, responsible, supportive, humble, merciful, kind, loyal, honest, compassionate and gentle. That is a great model for us today.
Let us pray that in the likeness of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph we might be able to live our lives as a family. The Holy Family teaches us that this is the way to happiness.
Sincerely,

Sinceramente,
Rev. Miguel Gonzalez
